LBJ Law Review

Public Broadcasting Act of 1967

This act set up public broadcasting in the United States in 1967, and also the the corporation for public broadcasting. And after that there were PBS and NPR. Lyndon B. Johnson was the one to signed the act into law on November 7, 1967. He told about the purpose of it. This law was about how our nation wants more than material wealth, we want more than a "chicken in every pot". American wants more than anything to enrich man's sprit. That was the biggest part of this act.
This is going to give a stronger and wider voice to television and radio, this act would give new funds for broadcasting. Let the television be used more widely in classrooms. And it would also build new institutions like corporation of public broadcasting.

This was a very good thing for the nation, it would make public broadcasting more widely used. Its something that would help the nation. It would also make classroom activities more interesting to students. This was one of the best decisions that the legislation has made. Giving more information out to the nation was a very good idea.
